Constellation Healing... Based on the name of the healing modality, I wasn’t quite sure if Constellation Healing would somehow involve astronomy – it does not.
Constellation Healing involves clearing invisible family ties. I don’t know anyone who didn’t experience some trauma in childhood and who hasn’t experienced some residual strain even in adult relationships with their families.
As children we look to our parents to feed us, guide us, and love us unconditionally. But they don’t always live up to our expectations of their role.
These humans are prone to muck up, because honestly, they were mistreated and mis-trained by the humans that failed to love them when they were growing up. The cycle continues, ad infinitum, until we break it.
Here’s where Gary’s work comes in.
In Constellation work, participants tune into the energy of the family system, including family dramas; they act as physical “stand ins” for absent or deceased loved-ones. How do they do this? By intuiting the family members’ energy.
As I was taking on the role of one person’s mother and then later on as another’s father, I could physically feel the person’s energy. I could perceive the physical sensations of what they would feel in their body, and I could understand their thoughts and interpret the world through their eyes. All of this I would convey to the participant who was experiencing healing by reconnecting to the energetic essence of the parent.
As one participant intuited the roll of my mother, she was spot-on. The information I received gave me insight on how to interact with my mother when moving forward. When we were almost finished the participant added, “Your mother wants you to call her.” Typical, mom. Typical.
After doing this work I feel a lot lighter. Especially after doing the work around my father as that involved handing back generations of metaphorical “weight.” Gary explained to the group that as our parents’ children, we try to take on their burdens to help them out. In short, it doesn’t help. Not only does it not help, it hinders the healing process. So by handing the familial burden back to my father, my father now has the opportunity to process it by handing it back to his father, and so on.
In essence, by doing Constellation Healing both my father and I are relieved of the burdens of our family’s past – it clears our "energetic epigenetics." The cycle is finally broken. Yup, my father gets the benefit even though he wasn’t even in the room with us. (I highly suspect he was on the couch watching golf this Sunday afternoon). When we do touch base again, he'll likely tell me that he feels "lighter" and better than ever.
I found this work incredibly helpful and I plan to become a regular atGary’s Sunday Agoura Hills workshop. And even though the subject matter can get serious, Gary is gentle and adept at guiding us through the deepest drama points. He’s also really, really funny, so get ready for some humor between rounds of healing.
I also plan to do a one-on-one session with Gary, or maybe even several. I will have my own children someday (hopefully soon:-) and the more trauma I can release and heal, the less burdens I will pass on to them.
